On Wednesday evening, Manchester City visit the King Power Stadium to take on Leicester in what should be a fantastic tie in the English Capital One Cup. 9 goals in their last two outings and a surge towards the top of the Premier League table is enough to give City fans confidence ahead of the journey and progression should be a reality having put 3 past Bayern from 2-0 down and scoring 6 against Arsenal at the weekend.
Ahead of the tie, Aguero will miss the visit to Leicester with a calf strain which may keep him out until January. Richards and Nastasic are both unavailable with injuries meaning changes will have to happen in the Man City backline. For Leicester City, Chris Wood, Tom Hopper and Sean St Ledger are all out with knocks.
Manchester City are undefeated in seven and scoring goals for fun at the moment in the EPL and in Europe. But as always, one cannot underestimate Leicester as it seems to be more and more common each season that Premier League clubs are eliminated from cup competitions against lower league clubs. Sure, there may be a gulf, but just how big? If the Premier League had 24 teams in it, Leicester would be technically 23rd at the moment (and probably higher going by their form this year), although the club have looked a bit ropey in the last 2 weeks losing to Sheffield Wednesday and Brighton before the weekend’s 1-1 home draw with Burnley.
